Glasgow Backgammon Open 2020

CANCELLED November 27-28-29 2020 CANCELLED

Wednesday 21 October 2020

COVID latest: 2020 Tournament is cancelled. Thank you to everyone who entered the tournament earlier this year. Though we were hopeful that somehow we would be able to run our inaugural tournament we have reluctantly come to the inevitable decision that we cannot safely or legally run the tournament face-to-face this November 2020.

We have already paid a number of refunds to those who were registered. If you registered and have not already received your refund and would like a refund please contact the tournament director Evan Williams (evanmw@ntlworld.com) for your refund. Alternatively we can hold on to your entry fee for automatic inclusion in the tournament when it does run, hopefully in 2021.

In place of the Glasgow Open 2020 we are hoping to run an online tournament. If you are interested please contact Evan (same email address as above) to register your interest. As things stand there is a possibility that this online tournament will happen but it's viability depends on the number of folk wishing to take part.

Regardless of how this year's tournament pans out, rest assured that in 2021 there will be a Glasgow BG Open assuming the threat from 'the virus' is under control. The intention is that it will be a face-to-face event and we are pleased to say that we are already in the initial planning stage.

Following the success at the UKBGF Clubs' Championship in York in 2019, Glasgow Backgammon is proud to announce the inaugural Glasgow Backgammon Open tournament in November 2020.
